Puppy Size Calculator derived growth curves Version 3.0, generated October 7, 2026 Files ----- puppy-growth-curves.json Full curve data, derivation counts, adult-size bands, and holdout metrics. puppy-growth-curves.csv Curve points only. Each fraction is puppy weight divided by that dog's observed young-adult weight. p10, median, and p90 describe the distribution across eligible dogs at each four-week age bin. Derivation summary ------------------ - Only preventive-care or healthy-pet visits were considered. - Visits recorded or predicted as thin/heavy were excluded. - A dog's young-adult outcome was the median eligible weight recorded from 1.75 through 2.25 years. - Multiple visits for the same dog in the same four-week bin were collapsed to one median observation. - 80% of dogs (PET_ID modulo 5 = 1-4) produced the curves. - The remaining 20% (PET_ID modulo 5 = 0) were held out for evaluation. - The raw data never ships with this website. Important limits ---------------- These are retrospective population estimates, not clinical growth standards, diagnoses, or guarantees for an individual dog. Breed was owner-reported in the underlying records. The source comes from one US veterinary network and mainly covers 1994-2013. Mixed-breed dogs were excluded from the source study. The published paper did not create a formal clinical curve for dogs over 40 kg because giant breeds were too heterogeneous; the giant group in this derived file is exploratory and should be treated with extra caution.
